In-Flight Skincare | Top 7 Skincare Products In The Plane

The quarter of the year is almost over and done with! After over eighty hours of travel, ten flights and three cities later, I finally curated seven of my holy grail skincare products that work so well with my skin. My skin has been nothing but dry, dull and uneven so I gravitated towards products that give me the perfect amount of hydration and radiance (and is TSA approved.) For the last three months, I've consistently used the same seven products on (and off) the airplane to let it really work on my skin. I learned that investing in quality skincare products makes for quality results. This is my in-flight skincare and I am so happy to finally share it with you.

1. CLEANSE: Cleansing towelettes by Neutrogena

One thing you should know about me is that I refuse to travel with make-up on my face. Not even an ounce of foundation goes on, not even my go-to winged liner. If that doesn't tell you how much I love skincare more than make-up, I don't know what will. But even with zero make-up, my skin still always feel dry and dirty on airplanes so these cleansing towelettes by Neutrogena is handy in my purse. I wipe these on my bare face and feel fresh already.

2: TONE: SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion

I first heard about SK-II two years ago. I have been hesitant to spend so much money on skincare. So as a start, I purchased the three in one set that included the lotion, the essence and the facemask. Now, I fully trust it and would invest on the full bottles as soon as I run out. This clarifying lotion is the perfect on the go exfoliator after cleansing. It removes the excess dirt and dead skin. I usually soak a cotton ball and wipe it all over my face concentrating more around my mouth and the sides of my nose. After application, my skin instantly feels smoother and more hydrated.

3. FACEMASK: Bad Skin Quick Repairing S.O.S Super Mask

After exfoliating, I love a good face mask. Yes, I am one of those crazy people who put a face mask on the plane to scare the people sitting next to me. The circulated air in planes really dries out my skin so a really good face mask is a must! If by any chance, I forget to bring any of my other skincare products, I'll always have a face mask handy. I can't quite link this specific one that's pictured so I've linked a few below.

4. ESSENCE: SK-II Facial Treatment Essence

After a good face mask, I apply the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence all over my face concentrating more on my cheeks. I have really big pores and somehow it gets even bigger inside the plane. This essence refines the look of my pores for a smoother skin texture. My skin feels firmer after applying this.

5. SERUM: Joanna Vargas Rescue Serum

I don't know why I went this long without this concentrated, corrective Vitamin C serum in my skincare routine. This serum rescued my skin from uneven pigmentation and dull skin. Whether I am off or on a plane, I apply one or two pumps of this stuff onto my palm, and apply it all over my skin. After using it for the last three months, I don't think I can go without it again.

6. GEL: Dr. Jart Water Fuse Ultimate Hydro Gel

After my serum, I love applying this ultra-lightweight hydro gel-cream by Dr. Jart. The formula instantly cools and refreshes the skin while giving it a boost of hydration. A little goes a long way. After application, I wait a few minutes to completely absorb onto my skin creating this sheet of cushion to hydrate and energize the skin.

7. SLEEP MASK: Dr. Jart Water Fuse Hydro Sleep Mask

After the gel-cream, I love applying this hydro sleep mask especially if I have a red-eye flight. I make sure to apply this before I sleep on the plane. Again, a little goes a long way. This stuff balances the moisture in my skin and boosts firmness. It creates a protective barrier on my skin to lock in the moisture and nutrients I need while I get my beauty sleep. When I wake up the next day, I simply wash it off with warm water. My skin just feels so healthy and soft when I wake up!

Let me know if you also use any of these products or if you're willing to try any of them.

Monday Mentality | Boss Babe Suiting

The best outfit trend from 2017 that has made its way to this year and it's one of my faves: pant suits. I can’t think of a better outfit to feature on this blog to end the Monday of the year on a Monday. Like I said in my previous post, January is the Monday of the year. And we got no option but to kill it. I think it paves way to how the rest of the year will be. I honestly don’t remember a more satisfying month than this one. I caught four flights and traveled somewhere familiar and somewhere new (I’m sure to recap those two trips on here very soon.) I wrote a lot more. I focused more on my own growth. I found more and more clarity in what I want to do next.

I can genuinely say January was full of little victories within myself and my friends and I can't help but celebrate each and every one. I can't help but keep this boss babe attitude all year long. A nude suit, a black lace lingerie and a red lip. Three elements that work so much better in fruition than I ever anticipated. Maybelline’s “Hot Lava” lipstick is my lip shade of the moment. The Monday of the year is about to end and I'm ready to kiss my doubts and my fears goodbye. Here's to chasing my own dreams instead of chasing someone else's.

More Dewy Skin Please | Winter Skin Edit

New York freeze has got me thinking and talking about a tropical escape. You really can't blame me. I can't help but reminisce on the last adventure I took where the sun was generous and my skin felt the most relaxed and healthy. My trip to Coron Island in Palawan, Philippines is a little over two months ago yet it feels so much longer than that. It was nothing short of incredible. Not an ounce of make-up on my face, daily body massages and amazing body oils drenched on my skin are three simple formulas to living my best life. I would go back in a heart beat.

Since I've been back,  the brutal air of winter has not been forgiving to my skin. I've been trying out various products to get rid of dry patches and random breakouts. I've discovered a few products that are making my skin feel and look so much better just in time for my next adventure.

Here are the five products in my winter skin edit.

1. Tree Hut Skincare Shea Coconut Lime Sugar Scrub — Say goodbye to dry skin. This product is the intense exfoliation my skin needs when it’s winter. The sugar grains and natural oils polishes away the damaged and dead skin leaving my skin smooth and soft to the touch. A good body scrub is what you need in this brutal cold.

2. Dr. Jart + Water Fuse Hydro Sleep Mask — I’ve always felt hesitant to use sleep masks. But after experiencing dehydrated and dull skin every winter morning, I just had to try it. This stuff is miracle in a bottle. I simply apply it after my moisturizer and I wake up with soft and hydrated skin. Now I can’t live without it all year round.

3. SK-II Pitera Essence Set — Around Black Friday, I decided to invest more in quality products. I’ve heard so many good things about SK-II and I know you have too! I purchased this set on Sephora and have been using the Facial Treatment Essence. This is the change my skin deserves!

4. L’Occitane Shea Butter Ultra-Rich Body Cream — I prefer body creams over lotion most especially during the winter season. This one is my favorite. It noursihes, protects and restores my skin better than regular lotion. I also like the light texture it has leaving my skin soft without the greasy residue.

5. L’Occitane Shea Fabulous Oil — I use this body oil right after I get out of the shower. It is best when used on damp skin! I let my skin air dry and this stuff really locks in the moisture and keeps my skin hydrated.

'Tis The Season With Kevyn Aucoin

Welcome to the Twilight Zone!

That's what I refer to the time between Christmas and New Year's Day. It’s around this time of the year where I dive deeper into my make-up collection and explore colors beyond my everyday go-to look. New year, new habits. Every month, I’ll be sharing and introducing a beauty trend or product that I am currently loving. And this holiday season, I find myself reaching for the new Electropop Pro Eyeshadow Palette by Kevyn Aucoin to create dramatic looks to last me until the midnight ball drop on New Year’s Eve.

For this quick look I rocked on Christmas, I gravitated towards the pink and red shimmers to demand more attention to the eyes. Using a small eyeshadow brush, I applied 'Switch,' a bubble gum pink shimmer as a base all over the lid. Then, I took 'Laser' with a tapered fluffy brush and focused it on the crease of my eyelids and blended it with 'Switch.' To intensify the look even more, I took 'Heat' and applied it on the third outer edge of my eyes.

The Electropop Pro Eyeshadow Palette can add a multidimensional touch to any look. It certainly takes my usual cat eye and mascara go-to to the next level. I can't wait to dip into the blue and green hues in this palette for the New Year!

Summer Make-Up Edit: Hotel Room Edition

Last weekend, I found a glimpse of serenity and a good night's sleep in the middle of Midtown Manhattan inside a charming, luxe hotel called The Time New York. While the city continued to move in its fast-forward motion right outside my window, I slowed down the pace of time with a little room service, a good, long shower and a lone R&R before I hit the town with my friends. I've always thought a staycation was unnecessary but boy was I wrong! A simple change in scenery seriously speaks volumes to the body and the mind.

Sometimes, you just need to push the pause button on life to actually appreciate it. This was such a last minute, spontaneous decision, all I had in my make-up bag are my make-up holy grails. Luckily, it was enough and it was all I needed to achieve the perfect summer glow.

I am no make-up artist, but I've honed a few tips and tricks throughout the years from watching Youtube tutorials and working with amazing make-up artists. Growing up, I couldn't tell you the right steps to putting on make-up and I certainly couldn't tell you the difference between a foundation and a concealer. Make-up was not as important in my teenage years as it is to this generation of teens.

I've linked all the products I used below in the order of steps I've applied them.

I've been trying to start Youtube but until I do, I'll blog my make-up looks for now.
