Jewelry and accessorizing has never been my forte. If I am asked to name something I didn't get from my mother, it's her patience and love for jewelry and accessorizing. I have two piercings on each ear but they're always bare. My wrists are too small for most bracelets and untangling necklaces feel like such a chore. So I choose not to wear any. I grew up watching my mother match her shoes to her handbag on a daily basis. She claims it's her fashion rule of thumb. I'm content to just have a bag to put my belongings in regardless whether or not it matched my shoes or if it's designer.
There are only two times when I felt the need to put on a pair of earrings – a special occasion and summer. There's something about this time of year that makes me feel more feminine and flirty. Maybe it's being reacquainted back with the sun, showing bare skin or tropical summer getaways. Either way, earrings are more appealing to me now more than ever. And I am not talking about simple, basic gold and silver stud earrings. I am talking about colorful, bold ones in different shapes and styles – the perfect cherry on top of a summer look. I recently discovered Mignonne Gavigon, a brand that is redefining statement jewelry. To me, it's the epitome of summer in jewelry form.
