More Dewy Skin Please | Winter Skin Edit

New York freeze has got me thinking and talking about a tropical escape. You really can't blame me. I can't help but reminisce on the last adventure I took where the sun was generous and my skin felt the most relaxed and healthy. My trip to Coron Island in Palawan, Philippines is a little over two months ago yet it feels so much longer than that. It was nothing short of incredible. Not an ounce of make-up on my face, daily body massages and amazing body oils drenched on my skin are three simple formulas to living my best life. I would go back in a heart beat.

Since I've been back,  the brutal air of winter has not been forgiving to my skin. I've been trying out various products to get rid of dry patches and random breakouts. I've discovered a few products that are making my skin feel and look so much better just in time for my next adventure.

Here are the five products in my winter skin edit.

1. Tree Hut Skincare Shea Coconut Lime Sugar Scrub — Say goodbye to dry skin. This product is the intense exfoliation my skin needs when it’s winter. The sugar grains and natural oils polishes away the damaged and dead skin leaving my skin smooth and soft to the touch. A good body scrub is what you need in this brutal cold.

2. Dr. Jart + Water Fuse Hydro Sleep Mask — I’ve always felt hesitant to use sleep masks. But after experiencing dehydrated and dull skin every winter morning, I just had to try it. This stuff is miracle in a bottle. I simply apply it after my moisturizer and I wake up with soft and hydrated skin. Now I can’t live without it all year round.

3. SK-II Pitera Essence Set — Around Black Friday, I decided to invest more in quality products. I’ve heard so many good things about SK-II and I know you have too! I purchased this set on Sephora and have been using the Facial Treatment Essence. This is the change my skin deserves!

4. L’Occitane Shea Butter Ultra-Rich Body Cream — I prefer body creams over lotion most especially during the winter season. This one is my favorite. It noursihes, protects and restores my skin better than regular lotion. I also like the light texture it has leaving my skin soft without the greasy residue.

5. L’Occitane Shea Fabulous Oil — I use this body oil right after I get out of the shower. It is best when used on damp skin! I let my skin air dry and this stuff really locks in the moisture and keeps my skin hydrated.

Summer Make-Up Edit: Hotel Room Edition

Last weekend, I found a glimpse of serenity and a good night's sleep in the middle of Midtown Manhattan inside a charming, luxe hotel called The Time New York. While the city continued to move in its fast-forward motion right outside my window, I slowed down the pace of time with a little room service, a good, long shower and a lone R&R before I hit the town with my friends. I've always thought a staycation was unnecessary but boy was I wrong! A simple change in scenery seriously speaks volumes to the body and the mind.

Sometimes, you just need to push the pause button on life to actually appreciate it. This was such a last minute, spontaneous decision, all I had in my make-up bag are my make-up holy grails. Luckily, it was enough and it was all I needed to achieve the perfect summer glow.

I am no make-up artist, but I've honed a few tips and tricks throughout the years from watching Youtube tutorials and working with amazing make-up artists. Growing up, I couldn't tell you the right steps to putting on make-up and I certainly couldn't tell you the difference between a foundation and a concealer. Make-up was not as important in my teenage years as it is to this generation of teens.

I've linked all the products I used below in the order of steps I've applied them.

I've been trying to start Youtube but until I do, I'll blog my make-up looks for now.

Feeling Peachy With Finding Ferdinand

A couple of months ago, I visited the Finding Ferdinand Headquarters and talked about all things Street Style Teller and my (surprising) beauty habits. I also got the chance to create my very own Custom Overnight Palette and got to do a quick tutorial!

The peach trend certainly transcends beyond the spring season and it is a personal beauty go-to for me all year round. While creating my palette, I was thinking of how simple yet versatile it should be especially when I travel. Even though I have yet to learn how to travel light in my wardrobe I learned to travel light when it comes to my skincare and make-up. This is why I chose eight shades that can take me (and even you) from day to night!

I also filmed a quick make-up tutorial on my visit with
Finding Ferdinand. Watch it if you would like!
I am certainly not a make-up artist so if I can do it, you can do it!

Skin Routine With Tree Hut Skincare

As I get older, the more I appreciate the skin I am in and the more aware I become for the care it deserves. Clear skin has always been a difficult thing for me to achieve most especially on times when I feel stressed and so worn out from a long day's work. Sometimes, starting my days with more water instead of coffee or trading in nights out for extra hours of beauty sleep aren't enough. While no two days are ever the same for me, I make sure that it consistently begins and ends with my skincare routine with Tree Hut Skincare in three simple steps.

After everyday's commute on the subway and walking in the harsh temperatures, my skin feels so dry and rough. It craves care and attention. I begin my nighttime skin routine by cleansing my face with the Polishing Facial Scrub

Whether it's on no make-up or make-up days, I use this gentle, rose-scented exfoliating scrub to rejuvenate my skin. I really enjoy the texture of the jojoba esters against my skin. I really feel it scrubbing away any impurities and slowly removing any dead skin cells, leaving my skin silk and smooth to the touch.

The second step to my routine is further hydrating my face with the Renewing Night Cream. I first dot my face (like I would with my foundation) with this lightweight, chamomile-scented cream before really working it into my skin in a circular motion.

The formula helps soothe and helps improve the elasticity of my skin's texture. The roughness is lessened and my face feels moisturized. I appreciate the hints on botanical extracts in this product. The Chamomile and Sea Buckthorn are absorbed through the night and hydrates leaving my skin feeling fresh when I wake up.

Lastly, I treat my skin with the Hydrating Overnight Mask. For someone who is face mask-obsessed, I am excited about a face mask I can wear to sleep.

Unlike other masks I've tried that tend to have a wet consistency and leaves residue on the face, this one is made of gel and dries quickly onto the skin for a comfortable overnight use. I wake up the next day and pat it dry with a face towel. My skin feels soft and hydrated where it most needed.

I'm ready to begin a new day.
