It might be an unpopular opinion but I love a good weekend in the rain. While most people opted to stay in, I decided to enjoy what felt like a ghost town. No weather was quite more fitting to grab a steaming fresh bowl of ramen downtown and finally run that errand that never left the to-do list. This year, I didn’t have a particular costume in mind but my regular wardrobe. This yellow puffer jacket is from the men’s section and it’s probably the brightest thing I own. Layered on top of my favorite turtle neck and pair of overalls, it was quite an easy rainy day look. Stomping around downtown was also made easy with new go-to black boots.
The impromptu rain also brought the perfect setting to spend quality time with the one I love. With no specific Halloween weekend plans on the agenda, the extent of our Halloween weekend celebrations included a trip to the movies with popcorn and buncha crunch. The jam-packed theater filled with other movie-goers told us we weren’t the only ones that had the right idea. I really love a good weekend full of unexpected bliss moments.
If I can describe this year in one word, it’s “unpredictable.” And if I learned anything at all it’s that what I do with unpredictability is what will pave way for what’s to come. What flows, flows. What crashes, crashes. I no longer force things or search for any explanation. Sometimes, it’s easier to take things for what they are and to not analyze it for something deeper to make sense of it or to even change it. Just like the unpredictability of rain, I learned to embrace the uncertainties of life. It’s so satisfying to change any situation with a positive perspective.
In the end, I am truly happier and more free.
