Spring With A Pop Of Pastel in Furla Sneakers

I’ve been reaching for my sneakers to complete all of my looks for as long as I can remember. It’s even more frequent now that the weather is slowly easing into spring/summer. It’s such an effortless choice! I love a good pair of fresh white kicks paired with denim when the season gets warmer. There’s just something about a clean pair of white sneakers that is oddly satisfying. It’s just the perfect accent and cherry on top of any look.

For this season, I’m gravitating more towards pastel tones and soft, muted hues that still have add that pop of color. Lucky for me, FURLA has these Hikaia Low sneakers that one-ups all white sneakers. Made of cotton canvas and smooth leather, these sneakers are the perfect combination between sleek and unique. I personally love the blue and orange pastel detail on these shoes. It will definitely be one of the sneakers I have on rotation this season and beyond!

Would you rock these #FURLASneakers yourself?

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them – that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
—Lao Tzu

I learned a few lessons from the wind: everything is temporary. One minute it’s there then it isn’t. It naturally moves. It’s not forced. It does not ask for attention. It’s just in its motion. It stays in its lane until it takes a turn to its true direction. You can’t see it. But you can feel it. Be like the wind. It is rooted but it flows.

Adulthood taught me so much about varying wavelengths and different vibrations between people, relationships, mentalities and ways to live life. There’s really no one way to live, to think, to be. And this isn’t a how to. I am just speaking from experience. I know at the end of the day, we are all just doing what’s best for us and making decisions that best fits the lifestyle we have. One of the key components to consistent good vibrations is learning to not get attached to ideas and dreams. It’s important to be accepting of the unpredictable. It’s helpful when you are malleable to change. The key is to learn to flow with the natural current of life. The key is to know the difference between a detour and a dead end.

To be honest, I’ve been at my happiest recently. I’m unapologetically in love with life!!! Instead of thinking about the negative parts, I try to think of the positives that will thrive from it. I’m holding on to what holds me. I’m letting go of things that are no longer there. It has only brought me a more rewarding life. And no, I’m not talking about money. I’m talking about louder laughs, carefree moments and deeper, more meaningful connections. That currency in life is priceless.

Spring is calling! Instead of sending her to voicemail, I answered after the first ring. And I have no intention of hanging up. I feel like I find myself away from this space for a two-month long radio silence every single time. At least I’m consistent about being inconsistent. For the most part of the year, my time has been spent elsewhere, the other side of the planet to be exact, growing and learning more about myself and the things that really matter to me. Winter ended and as it did, I find myself holding onto what holds me and letting go everything else.

The sun is beaming, the breeze is cool and the air is much lighter! This has got to be the best time of the year. One of the major aspect of my life that I hold to a pedestal is the way experiences and the way people make me feel good, specifically. I learned that being particular wit who, what and where you are is a necessity in this life. Know what you want, know what you don’t. I know I want only good vibrations! Unless it is catapulting me out of comfortability and into something more worthwhile, like flying to a different country or conversations that pass the small talks, I’ll be saying, “thank you, next.” It’s not personal, it’s just energy.

To keep things in my life further aligned with how good I feel, I don’t wear anything uncomfortable for the sake of good fashion. Style is style. And style to me means comfort and done right. Blank NYC Jeans called me too and they said they will be in Nordstrom! I’ve been wearing Blank NYC Jeans for quite some time now and it’s so good to hear they are launching their spring collection at Nordstrom. I don’t own a white jacket in my wardrobe that’s perfect for spring and so this soft, light crepe jacket with mesh under the arms is my current fave. I also love denim with a good fit. This ripped slim crop pant is stretchy but doesn’t stretch out. It fits consistently throughout the day and I love a good vintage feel. These two together is the perfect, effortless spring day outfit. It will definitely be on this season’s rotation.

Style Story: One Graphic Tee, Two Sides Of The Spectrum

Another day, another graphic tee. Two different ways. The polar vortex doesn’t look too bad inside the comfort of my home. The temperatures currently feel like it’s in the negatives and I can’t seem to take it upon myself to shoot any content outside. I’ve been spending a lot of my time in my home so far this year. And there’s something to say about falling in love with little corners of my humble abode. The polar vortex is pushing me into a winter hibernation and it is such a perfect time to really think of what I want for myself and visualize how I want the rest of my year to look like. I’m taking it upon myself to make my intentions crystal clear and the only person I am forcing into my life is the person I am becoming.

I realized that I can be two extremes of the spectrum and still be the same person at the end of the day. I can style my graphic tee with denim and sneakers one day and wear it with a nude suit (still with sneakers) the next. My love for androgynous styles and mixing feminine and masculine wardrobes is even more appealing to me now more than ever. Fashion month is finally here and I will be skipping it again to fly further east. Cities I’ve never been and people I’ve never met often inspire me in more ways than I expect and in the coming few months, you will see me embracing both sides of the spectrum. Why choose one when you can embrace both sides of you?

What I love most about fashion is the ability to express how we feel without uttering a single word. Our feelings and our thoughts come alive in our wardrobe choices. At least it does for me. Sometimes, the colors and pieces I decide to wear are mood enhancers or mood changers.

Lately, I’ve been gravitating towards some word graphic T-shirts to express myself. I don’t know what it is about this week but I’ve been having the hardest time to find the right words to say. Not because I’m afraid to express what it is I feel or what it is I think. Not because I’m afraid to be misunderstood. Not because I care how my words would come across. But because I am simply left speechless. I can’t seem to find the right combination of 26 letters in the alphabet to formulate my deepest expressions. Okay, a little dramatic but it’s like coming up with dictionary descriptions and metaphors for the word without coming up with the actual word or phrase. (Okay, even more dramatic.) Anyway, it resulted me to turn to fashion to express how I feel without uttering a single word.

Hanwen just so happens to have the best statement shirt for me this week.

Now here’s some of other really good statement shirt you and I can use for any occasion when we are at a loss for words.
